Come experience the old-time Kekri atmosphere and walk through the harvest gate into the new year!

Kekri was the largest harvest festival in Finland and the traditional New Year festival. It was the time to give thanks for the harvest, predict the future, and prepare for a good harvest for the coming year with offerings and spells.

​

In the atmospheric historical courtyard of the Riimukivi Farm, the folk beliefs of the old times come to life by Kekri fires.

​

A harvest altar and harvest gate will be built on the yard for the event, and a performance based on old spells will be performed in front of them, to give thanks for the harvest, drive away diseases and ailments, and invite good luck and prosperity for the coming year.

​

You can also bring something from your own harvest to the harvest altar and take it home at the end of the event, strengthened with blessings to improve the harvest of the coming year.

​

Once the gate has been enchanted, willing participants can walk through the gate into the coming year to the beat of the drums. You can also come as a spectator only without participating in any way.

Arrival at the venue at 19:00.

You can bring your own harvest to the harvest altar.

At 19:15. The spell performance begins

At 19:30 Those who wish to do so walk through the gate to the sound of drums

​19:45 Hot beverage available at the fire table

​

You can also participate in the performance by drumming and being part of the spell reading. Drummers and spellcasters are asked to arrive at 6 p.m.

Registration and price

​

The price of the event is 5€. The participation fee is paid upon registration to the account Riimukiven tila / FI46 5723 0220 3180 96 or in cash on site. The price includes the program and a hot drink from the fire table. The event is free for the drummers.
